Voice is natural, voice is human but unfortunately, not all voices, languages, accents or dialects are understood equally by voice technology. Mozilla Common Voice is crowdsourcing voice data to help voice technology understand how real people speak. Currently, the Common Voice includes 93 launched languages such as Kinyarwanda, Catalan, Slovak, Dhivehi and more. In this talk, you learn more about Common Voice and how you can play a role in making voice technology more equitable, diverse and inclusive.
Hillary Juma(she/her) is Common Voice Community Manager at Mozilla. Mozilla Common Voice is an open-source initiative to make voice technology more inclusive. Prior to joining Mozilla, Hillary was Data Science Community and Engagement Manager, at the Office for National Statistics and worked at the Houses of Parliament https://commonvoice.mozilla.org/
